This open-air museum consist of 34 old houses divided into three areas, some of them all the way back to 1580. The yards contains of schools, barns and stables, all surrounded by grazing sheeps and lambs. The museum also have a miniature city with white wooden houses copied from Kristiansand in 1:10. All eastbound buses have connection to the museum and you can get there in 12 minutes using the bus.

In the authentic WW2 Gestapo Headquarters you will find an education and doumentation centre. Arkivet studies how the retelling of our local history from World War II can help create attitudes, knowledge and understanding in order to secure the basis for lasting peace and democracy. Its situated only a 10 minutes walk from our hotel.

This museum features a heavy German coastal defence battery. With its 337 tonnes they have the second largest land-based cannon in the world. You can take a ride with the 1800 meter long ammunition railway train, which was used to carry ammunition for guns at Møvik Fortress. Except from all the historical scenes this is also a nice area for hiking, swimming and a beautiful viewing point.

A nice walk from the hotel you will find this natural history museum and botanical garden with flowers and trees from all over the world. You can observe a rose garden from 1850 and Norways biggest selection of cactus. Next to this museum you will find the historical museum Gimle Gård.

D/S Hestmanden sailed during both world wars and is the last remaining ship in the Nortraship fleet. The ship will be a unique museum and memorial for WW2. Its situated in Vågsbygd and can be reached by a westbound bus.
